Baotou Children’s Hospital — Paediatric Medical Furniture Project

Project Background

Baotou Children’s Hospital is the primary specialist paediatric facility for Baotou City and surrounding regions in Inner Mongolia, delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care from neonatal through adolescent age groups. The hospital’s expansion required a complete paediatric furniture fit-out balancing strict clinical compliance with a child-friendly, anxiety-reducing environment. ZHOBAI Medical Furniture was selected as the one-stop furniture partner, delivering the complete package across all paediatric wards, outpatient clinics, and support areas.

ZHOBAI’s design team worked closely with the hospital’s clinical leads to specify furniture meeting the biomechanical and infection-control requirements of a children’s hospital. Ward beds were specified with full-height four-sided safety rails and electric height adjustment; nursing station counters were set at a lower profile than adult-ward standards to improve nurse sightlines; and rounded-edge profiles replaced all sharp corners across every item in the facility. The colour palette — a warm, calming scheme selected with input from the hospital’s design team — was applied consistently across wards, treatment rooms, and waiting areas.

Scope of Supply

ZHOBAI delivered a fully coordinated furniture package manufactured in-house to GB/T medical-grade standards, with CE and ISO 13485 documentation at handover:

• Paediatric Ward Beds: Child-sized beds with four-sided electric safety rails, height-adjustable platforms, and co-ordinated bedside cabinets in child-friendly colourways.
• Nursing Stations: Low-profile custom counter systems with integrated medicine trolley docking bays, rounded-edge profiles, and clean/contaminated zone separation.
• Outpatient & Examination Rooms: Child-sized examination tables with adjustable height, paper-roll holders, and calming colour finishes.
• Family & Escort Areas: Folding escort chairs for in-room accommodation and family lounge seating suitable for children and parents.
• Sterile & Medication Storage: Locked medicine cabinets, preparation-room counters, and treatment trolleys meeting paediatric infection-control standards.

Project Highlights

• Child-Safe Design: Zero sharp corners across the entire range — all edges profiled with ≥ 5 mm radius; safety rails load-tested; no pinch points on moving parts.
• Antibacterial & Durable Materials: All surfaces in E0-rated board with anti-scratch PVC edge banding; antibacterial fabric seating; powder-coated steel frames.
• Space Optimisation: Folding escort chairs and under-bed drawer storage maximised usable floor space in compact paediatric ward rooms.
